Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Mr. Tanaka holds both a Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. After working in the insurance industry for a number of years, Mr. Tanaka left to attend Suffolk University Law School. After law school, Mr. Tanaka served as law clerk to the Honorable Dean E. Ochiai of the First Circuit Court. He then joined the Office of the Public Defender in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a Deputy Public Defender, Mr. Tanaka has effectively represented thousands of individuals in a variety of criminal matters and has tried more than forty cases before both juries and judges.
